Dr. Anandakumar Srinivasan received PhD in 2001 from ANNA UNIVERSITY, Chennai, for his work on organic polymeric coatings for corrosion and fouling prevention. As a postdoc he focused on the development and characterization phosphorus containing siliconized-epoxy coatings for flame retardant and anti-fouling applications. His work was awarded with a postdoctoral fellowship by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) in the year 2003 and subsequently for a visiting research fellowship awarded by Royal Society of Chemistry, UK in the year 2004 for the development of non-toxic, solvent-free nanocomposite coatings based on modified epoxy resins, which contain antifungal agents or non-toxic biocides incorporated in novel Nano zeolite porous Molecular sieves. Since 2017 he is working as Professor (Associate) at the Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai, India. He is a recipient of Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (European Commission)Visiting Research Fellowship. In his research, Accomplishments were made for the Synthesis and characterization of Phosphorus containing epoxy and siliconized epoxy coatings and nanocomposites having superior properties. Current topics comprise variety of novel organic-inorganic hybrid POSS-epoxy and nano-hybrid coatings and nanocomposite with anticorrosive and anti-bacterial properties. As a member of staff, supervised more than 75 post graduate students (of MSc and M.Tech), 3 M. Phil students and 6 PhD students in reviewing, evaluating and validating experimental data resulted from their project/PhD work. Professor Dr Ananda Kumar won the “Active Researcher Award” of Anna University for the year 2014 for his outstanding contribution to the field of nano-hybrid coatings and composites. His research team also won the Runners up National Award from the Central Ministry for petrochemicals and downstream plastic processing, Government of India during Feb 2015. He received Technology Innovation Award for the new productdevelopment from the Education Minister of his State Tamil Nadu in the year 2021. He has authored over 70 scientific papers and 11 book chapter in International journals of repute and developed many technologies for the prevention and remediation of corrosion, fouling and flame. He won the Scientist Medal from International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) 2023 in Stockholm Sweden for his outstanding contribution in Material Science and Engineering. He was recently awarded Honorary Visiting Professor Position by (IAAM) Ulrika Campus, Sweden in September 2024.
